Chris Jones, an assistant coach for the 2021-22 season, has taken over the head coaching duties. Dave Jackson, the head coach for the last five years, is now an assistant coach. Michelle Martinez has been hired as an assistant bowling coach.
"I am excited about Chris taking over as our head bowling coach," said Diringer. "I also want to thank Dave for everything he did for the bowling program while serving as head coach. The future of Comet bowling looks bright with Chris leading the way, and Dave and Michelle assisting him."
Prior to joining Olivet's staff officially in 2021, Jones spent time as a volunteer assistant coach for two years. He was fortunate to consult with Brunswick on ball design, development and final ball testing selection and testing on a regular basis years ago. In addition, Jones won several premier bowling events on a national level, including winning two eagles from United States Bowling Congress (USBC) titles.
Jackson has been a USBC silver level certified coach for more than 15 years and has owned and operated a bowling center and pro shop for over 40 years. Martinez is a Hall of Fame bowler for the state of Michigan, with many wins and accomplishments in the game. She is currently pursuing her USBC silver level coaching accreditation.
"I am extremely thrilled about the future of the Olivet College bowling programs," said Jones. "The coaching staff has a unique blend of well-rounded and real-world experience which will be able to attract some top-level bowlers to Olivet. As coaches, we will be able to take their game to an even higher level when they enroll. Personally, I have been able to achieve great success because of the coaches who mentored and coached me along the way. I am looking forward to be able to do the same and pass along my knowledge to Olivet bowlers so we can have success on and off the lanes."
