Ten athletic teams from The University of Olivet receive MIAA Team GPA award
HUDONSVILLE, Mich. – The Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) has announced the Team GPA award recipients for the 2023-24 academic year. Ten athletic teams from The University of Olivet are recipients of this award, presented annually to the conference teams who post a 3.30 or higher cumulative grade point average for the entire academic year.
The women's basketball team had the highest GPA at 3.695, which ranked 15th among the 118 MIAA teams honored. The swimming & diving teams were next with a 3.604 GPA for the women and 3.576 GPA for the men. The women's volleyball team posted a 3.482 GPA, followed by men's basketball at 3.456, baseball at 3.395, softball at 3.351, women's soccer at 3.321 and women's golf at 3.309.
OLIVET NOTES:
- The MIAA Team GPA award was presented for the first time in 1998-99. The 2023-24 academic year is the 26th year for the award.
- The women's golf team has received the award the most times of any Olivet athletic team at 20, including the last 17 years.
- The women's swimming & diving team is next as a 19-time recipient. This year was the 11th straight year to earn the honor.
- The women's basketball and softball teams team have both received this award 14 times. This year's GPA (3.695) for women's basketball is the highest in school history.
- The women's soccer and women's volleyball teams are both 13-time recipients. The soccer has a streak of 12 straight years, while volleyball's streak is at seven years.
- The baseball and men's basketball teams are both receiving this award for the first time in school history.
