Making the grade: 131 student-athletes named to 2021-22 MIAA Academic Honor Roll

FREELAND, Mich. – One hundred thirty-one (132) Olivet College student-athletes have made the grade and landed on the 2021-22 Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Academic Honor Roll.

The honor roll comprises any student-athlete who maintained a 3.50 or higher grade point average (GPA) for the entire academic year and was an active member of his/her team's roster.

The award is administered by the faculty athletic representatives at each member school in the MIAA. Olivet's faculty representative is Arthur Williams, professor of theatre.

Below is a complete listing of Olivet student-athletes who earned the honor. The asterisk symbol denotes the number of years each student-athlete has been named to the MIAA Academic Honor Roll.

OLIVET NOTES:

• Olivet succeeded the 100 plateau for the ninth time in school history.
• Six-of-eight women's tennis players, and five-of-eight women's golfers were selected to the honor roll.
• Seven-of-10 women's cross country runners were named to the honor roll.
• Nine-of-12 women's swimmers are on the honor roll.
• The class breakdown of the honorees is 34 freshmen, 29 sophomores, 34 juniors and 35 seniors.
• Nine student-athletes – Liam Kinjorski, Cameron Mahlich, Logan McLane, Drue Mullin, Kaylee Richardson, Kiley Schneck, Taylor Thelen, Reese Wallis and Rachel Webb – are four-time MIAA Academic Honor Roll recipients.
• One student-athlete – Ben Compton – is a rare five-time honoree.
• Of the 131 selections, 55 were named to the honor roll for the first time.
• Twenty-two (22) of the student-athletes posted a perfect 4.0 GPA for the entire academic year.
• Ninety-four (94) student-athletes had a 3.75 or higher GPA.
• The average GPA for the 131 student-athletes on the honor roll is 3.820.
• Ten (10) student-athletes – Dylan Briggs, Hayden Germain, Owen Guilford, Hunter Hilliard, Gabby Jolliff, Jennifer Mann, Chase Mendham, Zac Schneck, Brendan Sine and Reese Wallis ­– earned All-MIAA honors in their respective sport this academic year. One of those 10, Guilford, was the MIAA's Most Valuable Player in his sport (wrestling).
• Wallis ended his career at Olivet as a four-time All-MIAA selection.
• Wallis was Olivet's nominee for the MIAA Al Deal award for being the top senior male student-athlete.
• Kaylee Richardson and Kiley Schneck were among the seven students who received the Olivet College Donald A. Morris Academic Excellence Award. The award is given annually to the graduating seniors with the highest GPAs who completed all coursework through Olivet College.
