Track and field teams, Bauserman garner USTFCCCA academic honors
The Olivet College men’s and women’s track & field teams along with recent graduate Connor Bauserman have garnered academic honors from the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) for 2016-17.
NEW ORLEANS, La. – The Olivet College men's and women's track & field teams along with recent graduate Connor Bauserman have garnered academic honors from the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) for 2016-17.
Led by head coach Karen Lutzke, the teams received All-Academic team status. The women posted a 3.53 grade point average (GPA), while the men had a 3.19 GPA. The criteria for selection is a 3.00 or higher GPA cumulative team GPA during the current academic year.
Bauserman was selected to the USTFCCCA All-Academic Individual team. To qualify for this award, the student-athlete must have a 3.30 or higher cumulative GPA and met one of the following athletic standards:
- Competed at the NCAA Division III Indoor and/or Outdoor Championships during the 2017 season.
- Finished the regular season ranked in the top 35 nationally in an individual event or top 25 nationally in a relay event, according to the official lists on tfrrs.org.
Bauserman had a 3.75 GPA in a double major of financial planning and insurance & risk management. He placed seventh in the 800-meter run at the 2017 NCAA DIII Championships to become just the second indoor All-American in school history. Bauserman is a four-time All-Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) selection. He holds the school indoor record in the mile (4:25.11) and outdoor record in the 800m (1:52.00).
