Comets of the Week - September 9, 2024

The Female Comet of the Week is junior women’s golfer Ella LaMothe, of Grand Blanc, and graduate of Linden High School. LaMothe posted a two-round score of 161 strokes at the Kyle Campbell Memorial Tournament. In Friday’s first round, she matched her career-low score with an 82, and in Saturday’s round, LaMothe improved by three strokes to set a career-low with a 79. The 161 helped her tie for 18th-place of 92 golfers in the tournament.

The Male Comet of the Week is freshman men’s soccer Caiden Smith, of Hartford, and graduate of Hartford High School. Smith helped Olivet post a 2-0 record last week. On Wednesday in a 2-0 win over Ohio Christian University, he assisted on the second goal. On Saturday in a 4-2 victory over Hiram (Ohio) College, Smith had a brace (two goals), including the game-winner in the 41st minute.
