Comets of the Week - April 7, 2025
The Male Comet of the Week is junior Nate Droste, of Eagle, and graduate of Grand Ledge High School. Droste threw a complete game, nine-inning shutout to help the baseball team defeat Adrian College, 2-0. He allowed seven hits and one walk, while striking out three. Droste also reached base safely in three plate appearances, with two singles and a walk. The win snapped a 19-game losing streak to the Bulldogs, as Olivet’s last win in the series was 4-2 on March 27, 2017.
The Female Comet of the Week is the 4x100-meter relay team of seniors Morgan Jeffries, of Holt, and graduate of Haslett High School; London Eldridge, of Stanton, and graduate of Central Montcalm High School; Emily Norkowski, of Fife Lake, and graduate of Forest Area High School; and Lily Connelly, of Grant Township, and graduate of Crosswell-Lexington High School. The quartet broke the UOlivet record in the event with a time of 49.88 seconds. The previous record was 50.36 seconds. In open races, Eldridge became the third female in school history to run under a minute in the 400-meter dash with a time of 59.78 seconds, and Jeffries posted the fourth-fastest time in the 200-meter dash (26.69) and fifth-fastest in the 400-meter dash (1:01.28).
