Comets of the Week - April 14, 2025
The Male Comet of the Week is junior Bryan Carney, of Grosse Pointe Woods, and graduate of Grosse Pointe North High School. Carney threw a complete game, three-hitter to lead the baseball team to a 2-1 win over Hope College. He walked two batters (both in the first inning) and struck out 13 batters (four called, nine swinging) over the nine innings.
The Co-Female Comet of the Week is sophomore Kayden Alli, of Bronson, and graduate of Bronson High School. Alli posted a 3-1 record last week for the women’s tennis team. Against Albion College, she won a thrilling three-set match (3-6, 6-2, 6-0) at No. 3 singles and partnered with Madsion Golden for a 7-5 win at No. 2 doubles. Against Earlham (Ind.) College, Alli posted a straight-set win (6-4, 6-3) at No. 3 singles.
The Co-Female Comet of the Week is senior London Eldridge, of Stanton, and graduate of Central Montcalm High School. At the Central Michigan University Chippewa Challenge, Eldridge ran in three events and competed in one field event. She finished the 400-meter hurdles in 1:05.00, which is just nine one-hundredths slower than her own school record. Eldridge competed in the 100-meter hurdles (16.04) and was the second runner on the 4x100-meter relay (50.33). She also posted a season-best performance of 86 feet, 4 inches in the javelin throw.
