Comets of the Week - March 31, 2025
The Male Comet of the Week is sophomore Owen Fremeau, of Jackson, and graduate of Western High School. Fremeau opened the outdoor schedule by winning three throwing events – discus, hammer and shot put – at the Comet Triangular. His winning marks in the hammer (179 feet, 2 inches) and shot put (52 feet) broke the UOlivet outdoor records. In addition, the shot put mark is No. 8 on the NCAA Division III Outdoor Performance list, and the hammer mark is No. 15.
The Co-Female Comet of the Week is junior Ella LaMothe, of Grand Blanc, and graduate of Linden High School. LaMothe posted a two-round total of 166 strokes to finish ninth of 47 golfers at the Mount St. Joseph (Ohio) University / Stateline Shootout. In the first round, she shot a career-low 78 (+5).
The Co-Female Comet of the Week is senior Emily Norkowski, of Fife Lake, and graduate of Forest Area High School. Norkowski won the 100-meter hurdles (15.30) and triple jump (34 feet, 5-3/4 inches) at the Comet Triangular. Her time in the 100 hurdles is a personal best and ranks second all-time in UOlivet history. Norkowski also ran the second leg of the 4x100-meter relay which posted the fourth-best time at UOlivet at 50.92 seconds. In addition, she had a personal best mark of 73 feet, 6 inches in the javelin throw.
