Comets of the Week - December 9, 2024
The Male Co-Comet of the Week is sophomore Ryen Grigg, of Saginaw, and graduate of Heritage High School. Grigg finished third of 61 bowlers to earn all-tournament honors at the American Heartland Bowling Association (AHBA) #4 at Thunderbowl I in Fort Wayne, Indiana. He totaled 961 pins (279, 258, 201, 223). The performance aided the Comets to a fourth-place finish in the team standings and helped them climb to a tie for third in the AHBA seasonal standings.
The Male Co-Comet of the Week is senior Tyler Herrema, of Grandville, and graduate of Grandville High School. Herrema had a 5-0 record to capture the 149-pound title at the Ohio Northern University Polar Bear Invitational. His wins were a 17-1 technical fall, second-period pin at 3:23, 10-1 major decision, 15-0 technical fall and 17-7 major decision. The only points Herrema allowed were eight escape points.
The Female Comet of the Week is sophomore Kendalyn Wilson, of Leslie, and graduate of Mason High School. Wilson made the all-tournament at the AHBA #4. She totaled 804 pins to finish fifth of 55 bowlers. Wilson’s four games were 208, 212, 226 and 158. The performance helped the Comet women place third in the team standings and move up to second in the AHBA seasonal standings.
