Comets of the Week - January 27, 2025
The Co-Comet of the Week is sophomore DeVondre Chandler, of Bath, and graduate of Bath High School. At the Hillsdale College Wide Track Classic, Chandler broke the UOlivet indoor record in the high jump, clearing the bar at a winning mark of 6 feet, 9-1/2 inches (2.07 meters). The feat is tied for fifth on the NCAA Division III performance list.
The Co-Comet of the Week is freshman Silas Martin, of Lansing, and graduate of Everett High School. Martin broke the UOlivet five-set record with 22 kills against Mount Aloysius (Pa.) College. He recorded 11 kills in the Comets’ home-opener against Concordia University Chicago (Ill.) to go along with seven kills against Grove City (Pa.) College. For the week, Martin totaled 40 kills and posted a .259 attack percentage.
The Co-Comet of the Week is sophomore Nathan Richardson, of Flint, and graduate of Grand Blanc High School. Richardson averaged 25 points, five rebounds, 3.5 assists and four steals in two men’s basketball games last week. He started the week with 20 points, five rebounds, five assists and three steals in a 95-64 win over Kalamazoo College on Wednesday night, and ended the week with 30 points, five rebounds, two assists and five steals in an 81-73 loss to Adrian College on Saturday afternoon. Over the two games, Richardson made 23-of-34 baskets (67.6 percent).
