Dean Trailways Comets of the Week - March 25, 2024
The Dean Trailways Male Comet of the Week is freshman Owen Fremeau, of Jackson, and graduate of Western High School. Fremeau scored points in three throwing events at the Murray State (Ky.) Margaret Simmons Invitational. He placed second in the discus with a school-record throw (48.35 meters / 151 feet, 1 inch), third in the shot put (14.40 meters / 47 feet, 3 inches) and seventh in the hammer throw (43.25 meters / 141 feet, 11 inches). Fremeau’s 16 points helped the Comets finish fifth in the team standings.
The Dean Trailways Female Comet of the Week is sophomore Natalia Johnson, of Lansing, and graduate of Sexton High School. At the Murray State (Ky.) Margaret Simmons Invitational, Johnson ran personal best outdoor times of 13.11 seconds in the 100-meter dash, 27.13 seconds in the 200-meter dash and 1:04.67 in the 400-meter dash. She also led off the 4x100-meter relay, which clocked-in at 52.46 seconds.
