Dean Trailways Comets of the Week - March 20, 2023

The Dean Trailways Female Comet of the Week is freshman Ella LaMothe, of Grand Blanc, and graduate of Linden High School. LaMothe posted a three-round score of 268 strokes (93, 83, 92) at the Jekyll Island Individual Invitational on the Oleander Course. Of the four Olivet golfers who competed, she was the only one to record a birdie, as she had a three on the par 4, 305-yard No. 1 during the second round.

The Dean Trailways Male Comet of the Week is junior Deontay Thomas, of San Antonio, Texas, and graduate of Southside High School. Thomas helped the men’s volleyball team post a 3-1 record during its spring break trip to the state of Pennsylvania. Over the four matches, he totaled 43 kills, with a .193 attack percentage. Thomas also recorded 32 digs. His best match was in a four-set victory over Wilkes (Pa.) University, where he had 16 kills, two service aces and 12 digs. In a three-set win over Wilson (Pa.) College, Thomas had a .476 hitting percentage (11 kills, one error on 21 attempts) to tie the fifth-best mark in school history.
