Dean Trailways Comets of the Week - November 14, 2022
The Dean Trailways Male Comet of the Week is senior Tevin Ali, of Lansing, and graduate of Waverly High School. Ali averaged 20.0 points and 7.0 rebounds in leading the men’s basketball team to a split of its two season-opening games at the Heidelberg University/Ron Linhart Memorial Classic. For his performance, he was named to the All-Tournament Team. In Olivet’s first game, a 109-71, victory over University of Pitt-Bradford (Pa.), Ali scored 24 points on 11-of-16 shooting. He followed that performance with a double-double, 16 points and 10 rebounds, in the Comets’ 89-64 loss to Heidelberg.
The Dean Trailways Female Comet of the Week is freshman Brooklyn Butler, of Croswell, and graduate of Crosswell-Lexington High School. Butler won the individual title to help the women’s bowling team capture the team title at the Siena Heights University Halo Classic. She averaged 192.83 pins over six games to land a spot on the All-Tournament Team. Butler’s high game was 211. Every pin was critical as Olivet won the team title by only six pins over Spring Arbor University, 6379 to 6,373.
