Dean Trailways Comets of the Week - March 15, 2022
The first Dean Trailways Male Comet of the Week is sophomore Donovan King, of Detroit, and graduate of Farmington High School. King posted a 3-1 record to finish as an All-American and the runner-up in the 285-pound weight class at the 2022 NCAA Division III Wrestling Championship. In his first match, he pinned his opponent in 5:48 and followed that with a 55-second pin against the No. 2 seed. King defeated the No. 5 seed in the semifinals, 3-1, before falling 2-0 in the national championship match.
The second Dean Trailways Male Comet of the Week is senior Ben Compton, of Rochester Hills, and graduate of Rochester High School. Compton helped the baseball team win two of three games at Wilmington (Ohio) College. He recorded a .538 batting average (7-of-13). Compton’s seven hits consisted of three singles, two doubles, one triple and one home run for a 1.077 slugging percentage. He also reached base twice on a walk for a .625 on-base percentage, while scoring eight runs and driving in seven runs.
