Dean Trailways Female Comets of the Week - January 31, 2022
The first Dean Trailways Female Comet of the Week is junior Rachel Swartz, of Battle Creek, and graduate of Pennfield High School. Swartz recorded four blocks against Adrian College and three more blocks against Calvin University to give her 50 this season and break Olivet’s single-season record. The previous record was 49 by Stefanie Lang during the 2014-15 season. Swartz has at least one block in 16 of 18 games this season, including seven games with at least four. She enters this week with 72 career blocks to rank fourth on the all-time list at Olivet.
The second Dean Trailways Female Comet of the Week is the women’s 4x800-meter relay team of sophomore Taryn Campbell, freshman Abbey Peters, senior Kaylee Richardson and sophomore Allyson Stevens. The quartet clocked-in with a school record indoor time of 11:12.70 at the Red, White and Blue Classic, hosted by Concordia University-Ann Ann Arbor. The mark bested the previous school record time of 11:15.28 set during the 2017 season.
