Bio
Joseph C. Funk was an outstanding all-around athlete who helped
reinstate intercollegiate athletics at Olivet College after World
War II in no less than four major sports. He provided leadership
and inspiration to all those who joined him in this endeavor.
During four years at Olivet he earned 13 varsity letters -- four
in basketball, three in football, four in golf, one in baseball,
and one in track. As a senior, he competed on the varsity track
team while directing volleyball and badminton play on campus,
earning a spot on the All-College Volleyball Team and winning an
individual badminton championship. He was a member of the Adelphic
Alpha Pi fraternity as well.
Following graduation from Olivet in 1950, he served as a Radar
Officer in the United States Air Force with high distinction.
Today, his efforts still encompass service to others in both his
professional and personal endeavors.
In recognition of his remarkable contributions to Olivet College
Athletics, Joseph C. Funk was inducted into the Olivet College
Athletic Hall of Fame.
