Women’s cross country: Olivet finishes in eighth-place at MIAA Championships
The Olivet College women’s cross country team finished in eighth-place at the 2014 Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Championships today at the Gainey Athletic Complex in Grand Rapids.
GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The Olivet College women's cross country team finished in eighth-place at the 2014 Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Championships today at the Gainey Athletic Complex in Grand Rapids. The finish also helped the Comets to an eighth-place finish in the final seasonal standings.
In today's championship meet, the women's team had 217 total points, which was 26 ahead of ninth-place Kalamazoo College. Calvin College won the league championship with 27 points after having five of the top nine finishers. Hope College was second with 55 points, followed by Albion College, 95; Alma College, 113; Saint Mary's (Ind.) College, 119; Adrian College, 162; and Trine (Ind.) University, 206.
Junior Jessica D'Haene placed 32nd of 121 runners. She completed the 6K race in 24 minutes and two seconds. Running a collegiate cross country race for the first time, sophomore Allyson Schultz was the next Olivet finisher, covering the course in 25:34. Freshman Kaitlin Stults finished in 26:15, followed by senior Milie Funk, 26:38; and junior Danielle Marsh, 26:42.
Olivet is off until Saturday, Nov. 15, when it runs at the 2014 NCAA DIII Great Lakes Regional, which is being hosted by Wilmington (Ohio) College.
