Women’s Volleyball: Olivet swept by nationally-ranked Calvin

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. –The University of Olivet women's volleyball team fell to Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) foe Calvin University in three sets this evening inside Van Noord Arena. The Knights entered the match ranked No. 8 in this week's American Volleyball Coaches Association poll.
- Final Score: Calvin defeated Kalamazoo 25-9, 25-15, 25-14

- Records: Olivet 11-11 overall, 2-3 MIAA; Calvin 16-3 overall, 4-1 MIAA
- The Comets and Knights traded the first six points of the first set. Following a 3-3 tie, Calvin used an 11-0 run to take control of the set. The Knights went on to win the opening set by a 25-9 score.
- Calvin built a four-point lead on two occasions in the second set. Olivet battled back to trail by only one point, 10-9. Four straight Knight points pushed their advantage to five points. The Comets could not recover from the deficit, as Calvin won the set, 25-15.
- After Olivet scored the first point of the third set, the Knights reeled off four consecutive points and did not trail for the remainder of the set.
- Junior Hayleah McFadden recorded five of the 15 Olivet kills.
- Senior Olivia DuFore was next with four kills.
- Junior Teagan Giannunzio collected eight set assists.
- Sophomore Jaydn Cary finished with a match-high 13 digs.
- The Comets end their regular season with three straight home matches. The first is next Tuesday, October 24, when Saint Mary's (Ind.) College visits the Cutler Event Center. First serve is at 7 p.m.
