FREELAND, Mich. – Olivet College junior Brittney Prince has been named to the 2018 All-Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) First Team for women's volleyball. All-league honors are based on a player's statistics during the eight-match conference schedule.
In the eight MIAA matches, Prince led the Comets with 101 kills, .294 attack percentage, seven solo blocks, 14 assisted blocks and 21 total blocks. She had a single-match high 24 kills in a four-set victory over Adrian College. Prince was one of four players to start all 100 sets for Olivet during the 2018 season. She broke the single-season school record with a .316 attack percentage to go along with a team-best 339 kills, 27 solo blocks, 52 assisted blocks and 79 total blocks.
"I am super proud and happy for Brittney," said Olivet head coach Megan Merchant. "She is a special player who is a really athletic player and has the ability to take over a match. I am now excited to see what Brittney can do during her senior season next year."
Prince is the third player in school history to earn All-MIAA First Team honors. The other were Marci Ritchie in 1995 and Marissa Guile in 2015. Prince is also believed to be the second African-American woman to be selected to the All-MIAA volleyball teams.
