FREELAND, Mich. – Olivet College senior middle hitter Marissa Guiile has been named to the 2015 All-Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) first-team for volleyball. All-MIAA honors are voted on by the league coaches and based on the player's statistics during the 16-match MIAA schedule.
Guile ranked among the league leaders in total kills (second, 184), kills per set (fourth, 3.17) and attack percentage (12th, .220). She also recorded 11 service aces, 36 digs and 33 total blocks. In Olivet's 28-match schedule, Guile totaled a team-high 341 kills to go along with a .276 hitting percentage, 21 service aces and 59 blocks. Her 341 kills are the third-most in school history for a single-season.
"Marissa has been a key contributor to our program over the last four years," said Olivet head coach Megan Merchant. "It is great to see her hard work and commitment to the program being rewarded with this honor."
Guile, only the second volleyball player in school history to be a first-team All-MIAA pick, ended an excellent four-year career in a Comet uniform. She played in 108 career matches, registered 783 total kills and a .212 attack percentage. The 108 matches and 783 kills are fourth-most in Olivet history, while the .212 attack percentage is second-best. Guile also had 42 aces, 187 digs, 48 solo blocks, 191 assisted blocks and 239 total blocks.
