GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The Olivet College volleyball team was swept by Calvin College, 25-3, 25-17, 25-13, in a Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) match tonight at Van Noord Arena in Grand Rapids. The Knights entered the match ranked No. 2 in the Division III American Volleyball Coaches Association Top 25 poll.
Senior Marissa Guile led the Comet front row with five kills. Sophomore Courtney Cronkright was next with three kills. Freshman Erie McClendon and junior Re'Gene Thompson each had three block assists. Junior Danielle Bearden posted team-highs in sets (10) and digs (eight).
Olivet will take a break from MIAA play this Friday and Saturday when it plays at the Illinois College Tournament. On Friday at 4:30 p.m. EST, the Comets will play Wisconsin Lutheran College, followed by a match against Missouri Valley College. On Saturday, they will battle the host Lady Blues at 11 a.m., followed by a match against Earlham (Ind.) College.
