Volleyball team improves to 4-0 on season with wins against MSJ and Earlham
The Olivet College women’s volleyball team improved to 4-0 on the season with two more wins today against Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference opponents today at Adrian College. The Comets swept both Mount St. Joseph and Earlham.

ADRIAN, Mich. – The Olivet College women's volleyball team improved to 4-0 on the season with two more wins today against Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference opponents today at Adrian College. The Comets swept both Mount St. Joseph (Ohio) University (25-13, 25-19, 25-18) and Earlham (Ind.) College.
Against Mount St. Joseph, junior Re'Gene Thompson recorded a team-high 16 kills. Sophomore Allison Turner had eight kills, followed by senior Marissa Guile with seven. Guile had zero attack errors on 14 attempts for a .500 hitting percentage. Junior Danielle Bearden collected 41 set assists. Junior Mona Hinamanu topped the defense with 18 digs.
Against Earlham, Thompson pounded down a match-high 17 kills to go along with six blocks. Guile had 11 more kills, with zero attack errors on 17 attempts for a .647 attack percentage. Bearden added 35 set assists, and Hinamanu recorded 16 digs.
Olivet is now off until next Friday, Sept. 11, when it opens Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association play with a home match against Albion College. First serve inside The Cutler Event Center is scheduled for 6:30 p.m.
NOTE: In school history, the Comets have never started a season with a 4-0 record against NCAA schools. In 1982, Olivet did have a 4-0 record but three of the four wins were against junior colleges.
