Volleyball team beaten by Alma in three sets
The Olivet College volleyball team was beaten by Alma College in three sets this afternoon at the Art Smith Arena in Alma. The first set was back-and-forth, with the Scots winning it 33-31. Alma then won the second and third sets, 25-15 and 25-17.
ALMA, Mich. – The Olivet College volleyball team was beaten by Alma College in three sets this afternoon at the Art Smith Arena in Alma. The first set was back-and-forth, with the Scots winning it 33-31. Alma then won the second and third sets, 25-15 and 25-17.
The Comet front row was led by the trio of sophomore Emma Brann (Ann Arbor/Pioneer), freshman Lydia Drikakis (Battle Creek/Lakeview) and junior Stefanie Lang (Valparaiso, Ind.). Lang led the way with 11 kills, while Brann and Drikakis each had 10. Brann had only four attack errors on 29 attempts for a team-leading .207 hitting percentage.
Sophomore setter Taylor Pringle (Haslett) had 34 of Olivet's 38 assists. Sophomore Megan VanderVlucht (McBain) was one of three players with double digit digs. She had a team-high 20, followed by junior Tina Westendorp (Nashville/Maple Valley) and Drikakis with 13 and 11, respectively.
Olivet will host Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association leader Calvin College next Wednesday, Oct. 10, at 6:30 p.m.
