Volleyball team beats Carlow (Pa.) and Oberlin (Ohio)
The Olivet College volleyball team won two non-conference matches tonight at Ohio Wesleyan University. In their first match, the Comets beat Carlow (Pa.) University in four sets (25-22, 22-25, 25-15, 25-18) and in their second match, they swept Oberlin (Ohio) College in three sets (25-17, 25-20, 25-23).

DELAWARE, Ohio – The Olivet College volleyball team won two non-conference matches tonight at Ohio Wesleyan University. In their first match, the Comets beat Carlow (Pa.) University in four sets (25-22, 22-25, 25-15, 25-18) and in their second match, they swept Oberlin (Ohio) College in three sets (25-17, 25-20, 25-23).
Against Carlow, Olivet had a .217 attacking percentage with 56 kills, 23 errors on 152 attempts. Sophomore Emma Brann (Ann Arbor/Pioneer) hit .500, recording a match-high 17 kills (three errors) and 28 attempts. Also recording double digit kills were freshmen Marissa Guile (Williamston) and Lydia Drikakis (Battle Creek/Lakeview) with 12 and 11 kills, respectively. Juniors Stefanie Lang (Valparaiso, Ind.) and Tina Westendorp (Nashville/Maple Valley) each had eight kills.
Sophomore Taylor Pringle (Haslett) finished with 46 set assists and two service aces. Sophomore libero Megan VanderVlucht (McBain) topped the defense with 29 digs. Drikakis had 19 digs, followed by Pringle and Westendorp with 16 apiece.
Against Oberlin, Brann reached double digits in kills for the fifth time this season with a match-high 12. Drikakis posted a team-leading .421 attacking percentage, with 11 kills and three errors on 19 attempts. Pringle collected 35 set assists to raise her season total to 377. VanderVlucht recorded a team-high 13 digs.
"We did a really nice job of implementing what we worked on at practices this week into the matches tonight," said first-year Head Volleyball Coach Megan Miller. "It was worth the trip down to Ohio, and we get to come home with two wins."
The Comets are off until next Tuesday, Oct. 2, when they host Kalamazoo College. First serve at The Cutler Event Center is 7 p.m.
