Volleyball team falls to Kalamazoo in four sets
The Olivet College volleyball team was defeated by Kalamazoo in four sets this morning at the Anderson Athletic Center in Kalamazoo.
KALAMAZOO, Mich. -- The Olivet College volleyball team was defeated by Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association rival Kalamazoo College in four sets this morning at the Anderson Athletic Center in Kalamazoo. After the Comets won the first set 25-23, the Hornets won the next three sets 26-24, 25-19 and 25-20 to pull out the victory.
Sophomore Sam Gibson (Battle Creek/Harper Creek) paced the Comets with a match-high 17 kills. Junior Jordy Bergeron (Muskegon/Mona Shores), sophomore Ashley Grimes (Concord) and sophomore Melanie Merchant (St. Joseph) each had 10 kills. Freshman Kaitlyn Salhaney (Caledonia/East Kentwood) posted a team-leading 23 set assists, while senior Jenessa Hicks (Union City) was a close second with 21. Senior Megan McCarty (Battle Creek/Harper Creek) recorded a team-high 29 digs.
Olivet (6-5, 3-3 MIAA) will travel to play Alma College Wednesday night at 6:30 p.m.
