Women’s Track & Field: Five school records broken, Olivet finishes fifth at MIAA Field Day

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – Aided by five school records, The University of Olivet women's track and field team placed fifth at the 2024 Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Field Day, held at the Gainey Athletic Complex in Grand Rapids.
- Olivet totaled 68 points. Hope College won the MIAA championship with 240 points, followed by Trine (Ind.) University, 182; Calvin University, 126; and Albion College, 84.
- Junior London Eldridge was the only event winner, as she took first in the 400-meter hurdles. Her time, 1:04.91, broke the school record.
- Sophomore Natalia Johnson achieved school records with fourth-place finishes in the 100- and 200-meter dashes at 12.40 and 25.67 seconds. Also, in the 100-meter dash, freshman Morgan Jeffries finished eighth and matched her season-best time at 13.05 seconds.
- The 4x400-meter relay team of Eldridge, freshman Aubrey Connelly, senior Lily Connelly and senior Tonya Tepin clocked-in with the second-fastest and school-record time of 4:05.62.
- The 4x100-meter relay team of Jeffries, Eldridge, senior Alex DeVault and Lily Connelly was fourth with a school-record time at 50.36 seconds.
- Sophomore Emily Norkowski finished fourth in the triple jump (33 feet, 11-1/2 inches). She also led a 4-6 Comet finish in the 100-meter hurdles. Norkowski's time was 15.71 seconds, followed by Eldridge in sixth at 15.94 seconds.
- Lily Connelly placed fifth in the 400-meter dash (1:01.30), while Aubrey Connelly was seventh (1:02.74).
- Sophomore Abbey Peters had the seventh-fastest time in the 1,500-meter run (5:00.01). The time moved her up to third all-time in school history.
- Junior Berniah Alexander posted a seventh-place finish in the discus throw (108 feet, 9 inches).
- Senior Allyson Stevens finished seventh in the javelin with a personal-best throw of 100 feet, 7 inches.
- The Comets may send some student-athletes to last chance meets over the next two weeks.
