Johnson tabbed MIAA Outdoor Track Athlete of the Week
HUDSONVILLE, Mich. – Sophomore Natalia Johnson from The University of Olivet has been named the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Outdoor Track Athlete of the Week.
At the Murray State (Ky.) Margaret Simmons Invitational, Johnson posted personal best outdoor times of 13.11 seconds in the 100-meter dash, 27.13 seconds in the 200-meter dash and 1:04.67 in the 400-meter dash. Among MIAA student-athletes this spring, the 100 time ranks second and the 200 time ranks fourth. Johnson also led off the 4x100-meter relay, which finished in 52.46 seconds.
"Natalia has been steadily improving throughout the year," said Olivet head coach Karen Lutzke. "She has begun to understand what is expected out of her on the track in practice and competitions. As Natalia gets stronger, we expect her to continue her development as an athlete who can be competitive in multiple events on the track."
Johnson and the Comets compete Friday at the Alma College Triangular.
