Brown, Jolliff break school records at NCAA Final Qualifier meets
OLIVET, Mich. – Three school records were broken, as the Olivet College men’s and women’s indoor track & field teams competed at two NCAA Final Qualifier meets – one at Wartburg (Iowa) College and the second at Ohio Northern University. Jordon Brown broke the school record in the 200- and 400-meter dashes and Gabby Jolliff set the school record in the pole vault.
OLIVET, Mich. – Three school records were broken, as the Olivet College men's and women's indoor track & field teams competed at two NCAA Final Qualifier meets – one at Wartburg (Iowa) College and the second at Ohio Northern University.
At Wartburg, senior Jordon Brown broke the school indoor record in the 400-meter dash (48.96 seconds) and 200-meter dash (21.95 seconds). His time in the 200 also set a meet record and placed him first of 18 runners in the race. Also, the distance medley relay team of senior Chase Mendham, Brown, junior Hayden Germain and junior Chris Davis finished race in 10:18.08.
At Ohio Northern, senior Gabby Jolliff broke the school indoor record in the pole vault. She cleared the bar at 11 feet, 1-3/4 inches. The previous top mark was 10 feet, 11-3/4 inches by current assistant coach Michaela Kaliniak. Junior Ashley Santo had a mark of 38 feet, 11 inches in the weight throw.
Senior Byron Pearce posted a mark of 49 feet, 11 inches in the weight throw and 45 feet, 11-1/4 inches in the shot put. Junior Charles Miller ran the 60-meter dash in 7.31 seconds.
Brown now waits to see if his 200 and 400 times will be fast enough to qualify for the 2023 NCAA Division III Championship next Friday and Saturday, March 10-11, at the Birmingham Cross Plex in Birmingham, Alabama.
