Indoor track and field teams start season at Jet’s Pizza Invitational
The Olivet College men’s and women’s track and field teams began the indoor portion of their 2020 schedules by competing at the two-day Jet’s Pizza Invitational, hosted by Saginaw Valley State University.

UNIVERSITY CENTER, Mich. – The Olivet College men's and women's track and field teams began the indoor portion of their 2020 schedules by competing at the two-day Jet's Pizza Invitational, hosted by Saginaw Valley State University.
- Freshman Jordon Butler had an outstanding debut in an Olivet uniform. He made the finals in the long jump, placing third with a school-record mark of 22 feet, 10-1/2 inches. The mark also ties Butler for 14th on the NCAA Division III Indoor Performance list.
- Butler was also one of three Comets to be the first runners in school history to compete in the 60-meter hurdles. His time of 8.94 seconds was the fastest of the three, and will now go down in the record book as the benchmark to beat.
- Eight Olivet student-athletes ran in the 60-meter dash, and freshman William Reed posted the fastest time of the eight at 7.17 seconds. The time was also 10th fastest among 49 runners in the race.
- Eleven Comets competed in the 200-meter dash, and junior Tyler Peck had the quickest time of the 11 at 23.30 seconds.
- Freshman Chase Mendham finished 10th of 68 runners in the mile run with a time of 4:33.13.
- Sophomore Lillian Albaugh placed ninth of 36 throwers in the shot put with a heave of 41 feet, 4-1/2 inches.
- Sophomore Kaylee Richardson ran an indoor personal-best time of 11:46.52 in the 3,000-meter run.
- The Comets participate in the Grand Valley State University Mike Lints Alumni Open next Saturday, Feb. 1.
