FREELAND, Mich. – Olivet College freshman Lillian Albaugh has been selected the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Indoor Field Athlete of the Week.
Albaugh achieved a school-record mark of 42 feet and 5-1/2 inches in the shot put at the Saginaw Valley State "Doug Hansen" Open. The mark was on her first of six attempts and placed her second of 32 throwers in the event. Furthermore, the performance ranks first in the MIAA this winter. Albaugh also finished in 18th-place in the weight throw with a 39 feet and 3-3/4 inch toss.
"Lillian has huge goals for herself in the shot put and it is evident when you see her competing," said Olivet head coach Karen Lutzke. "She loves challenging herself to get stronger and throw further every time she steps in the ring. We are excited to see what she can accomplish not only this year but in the next four years."
Olivet returns to competition Saturday at the Defiance (Ohio) College Invitational.
