Five track and field athletes compete at the GVSU “Big Meet”
Five Olivet College men’s and women’s indoor track & field student-athletes competed today at the Grand Valley State University “Big Meet.”

ALLENDALE, Mich. – Five Olivet College men's and women's indoor track & field student-athletes competed today at the Grand Valley State University "Big Meet."
FOR THE COMETS
- Michaela Kaliniak broke her own school record in the pole vault, soaring over the bar at 10 feet and 8-3/4 inches.
- Bruce Baker had a personal-best time of 15:12.99 in the 5,000-meter run.
- Mark Smith also had a lifetime-best mark in the 5,000-meter run at 15:51.39.
- Noah Bailey fouled on his first attempt, but rebounded with identical 20 feet and 1 inch leaps in the long jump.
- Dewan Hawthorne won his heat and placed sixth of 21 runners in the 600-meter run with a time of 1:23.26. The top five runners were from either NCAA Division I or II schools.
UP NEXT
- Olivet travels to take part in the Hillsdale College Tune-Up Invitational next Saturday, Feb. 17. Field events get started at 9:30 a.m., followed by running events at 11 a.m.
