Track and field teams sit in sixth and seventh after day one of MIAA Field Day
The Olivet College men’s and women’s track & field teams are hosting the 125th MIAA Field Day at the Kolassa Track and inside the Cutler Athletic Complex in Olivet. After day one of competition, the Comet women are in sixth-place in the team standings with 12 points, while the Olivet men are in seventh-place with seven points.

OLIVET, Mich. – The Olivet College men's and women's track & field teams are hosting the 125th Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Field Day at the Kolassa Track and inside the Cutler Athletic Complex in Olivet. After day one of competition, the Comet women are in sixth-place in the team standings with 12 points, while the Olivet men are in seventh-place with seven points.
WOMEN'S TEAM
- Freshman Kimberly Barber led the way for the Comets. She finished in third-place in the long jump, matching the school record with a 5.40m/17'8.75" inch leap. Barber also advanced to tomorrow's finals in the 100- and 200-meter dashes. She tied the school-record with the fourth-fastest time in the 100 preliminaries at 12.79 seconds, and took the last qualifying spot in the 200 at 26.74 seconds.
- In the only final on the track in today's first day of competition, junior Allyson Schultz placed fifth in the 10,000-meter run with a time of 38:44.37.
- Senior Danielle Hoffman scored seventh-place points in the pole vault. She cleared the bar at a school-record mark of 3.00m/9'10".
- Sophomore Isabelle Leon qualified for the finals of the 800-meter run. Her time of 2:23.80 broke the school record and was the eighth-quickest prelim time.
MEN'S TEAM
- Senior Drew Miller had Olivet's top finish, as he placed sixth in the shot put with a toss of 13.52m/44'4.25".
- Two Comets scored points in the long jump. Senior Travon Tatum was seventh, leaping 6.26m/20'6.50", while freshman Nicholas Yeck finished eighth with a 6.21m/20'4.50" jump.
Day two events get started tomorrow morning with finals in field events at 10 a.m. Running event finals will start at 1:30 p.m.
