Track and field teams take on Hillsdale and Calvin Invitationals
The Olivet College men’s and women’s track & field teams competed Thursday night the 50th Annual “Gina” Relays and Saturday at the Calvin College Tune-Up Invitational.
OLIVET, Mich. – The Olivet College men's and women's track & field teams competed Thursday night the 50th Annual "Gina" Relays and Saturday at the Calvin College Tune-Up Invitational.
Olivet had five runners compete in the 5,000-meter run at Hillsdale and all five posted personal-best times. Leading the way was junior Allyson Schultz who broke the school record in the event at 18:14.77. Also running were senior Danielle Marsh, 19:547.40; sophomore Bruce Baker, 15:19.73; junior Blake Wilson, 15:46.77; and freshman Mark Smith, 15:56.85.
The rest of the Comets participated in the Calvin Tune-up and several student-athletes posted either season- or career-best performances.
WOMEN'S TEAM
- Freshman Morgan Emens ran a career-best 29.68 seconds in the 200-meter dash.
- Sophomore Isabelle Leon placed fifth and ran a season-best 5:02.64 in the 1,500-meter run.
- Freshman Madison Grace heaved the hammer a personal-best distance of 31.80m/104'4".
- Junior Alissa Iloncai finished the 1,500-meter run in a lifetime time of 5:47.04 by just one-hundredth of a second.
- Freshman Jessica Taylor was second to cross the finish line in the 3,000-meter run in a lifetime best time of 11:56.96.
- Junior Brianna Wiles completed the 800-meter run in a career-best time of 2:35.13.
MEN'S TEAM
- Freshman Ethan Brabant posted a season-best mark of 12.11m/39'8.75" in the shot put.
- Senior Tyler Britten ran a career-best time of 2:00.45 in the 800-meter run.
- Junior Andrico Mason recorded a lifetime-best time of 54.89 seconds in the 400-meter run.
- Freshman Jakob Roberts ran a season-best time of 2:15.26 in the 800-meter run.
- Freshman Brad Thomas and junior Patrick Donovan were third (9:40.90) and fourth (9:45.57), respectively in the 3,000-meter run.
- Freshman Jeffrey TerBeek was fourth in the 110-meter hurdles with a career-best time of 16.31 seconds.
Olivet hosts the 125th Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Field Day next Thursday and Friday, May 5-6. Events start Thursday afternoon at 1 p.m., while Friday's events start at 10 a.m.
