Track & field: Ciaravino competes in heptathlon at Comet Invitational
Olivet College senior Cassie Ciaravino competed in the first day of the heptathlon at the 2015 Comet Invitational, held at the Cutler Athletic Complex and on the Kolassa Track in Olivet.
OLIVET, Mich. – Olivet College senior Cassie Ciaravino competed in the first day of the heptathlon at the 2015 Comet Invitational, held at the Cutler Athletic Complex and on the Kolassa Track in Olivet.
Ciaravino scored 2,534 total points in the first four events. She had the fastest time at 16.15 seconds, in the first event, the 100-meter hurdles to score 696 points. Ciaravino cleared the high jump bar at 1.62 meters/5 feet and 3-3/4 inches to tie for first in the event and score 759 points. She then placed third in both the shot put (8.42 meters/27 feet and 7-1/2 inches/427 points) and 200-meter dash (:27.73/652 points).
The second day of the heptathlon gets under way tomorrow morning at 9 a.m. The remaining events of the 2015 Comet Invitational get started with finals in field events starting at 11 a.m., and finals in running events beginning at 1:15 p.m.
