Track & field: Six Olivet student-athletes participate in Last Chance Meets
Six Olivet College indoor track & field student-athletes competed today in Last Chance Meets. Four male athletes participated in a meet at University of Wis.-Stevens Point, while two female athletes competed in one at Ohio Northern University.
OLIVET, Mich. – Six Olivet College indoor track & field student-athletes competed today in Last Chance Meets. Four male athletes participated in a meet at University of Wis.-Stevens Point, while two female athletes competed in one at Ohio Northern University.
Senior Jalen Weaver took first-place in the 800-meter run with a time of 1:53.48. He did not improve on his season-best time of 1:53.39, but that time continues to be the 12th-fastest time on the NCAA Division III Performance List. Official entrants for the 2015 NCAA Division III National Indoor Track & Field Championships will be announced by 9 a.m. on Monday. The championships will take place next Friday and Saturday, March 13-14, at the JDL Fast Track in Winston-Salem, North Carolina.
Sophomore Connor Bauserman placed 11th in the 800 with a time of 1:56.81. Senior Andrew Benkovsky broke the school indoor record in the mile run with a time of 4:25.41. Senior Greg Lutzke set a school indoor record in the 3,000-meter run with a time of 8:52.24.
Senior Cassie Ciaravino competed in the high jump and cleared the bar at 1.52 meters/4 feet, 11.75 inches. Freshman Michaela Kaliniak broke the school indoor record in the pole vault at 2.96 meters/9 feet, 8.50 inches.
