Olivet College’s Ciaravino finishes in fourth-place in heptathlon at Gregory Final Qualifier
Olivet College junior Cassie Ciaravino (Lapeer/East) scored 4,263 points to finish in fourth-place in the heptathlon at the North Central College/Gregory Final Qualifier in Naperville, Ill.
NAPERVILLE, Ill. – Olivet College junior Cassie Ciaravino (Lapeer/East) scored 4,263 points to finish in fourth-place in the heptathlon at the North Central College/Gregory Final Qualifier in Naperville, Ill. She competed in hopes of qualifying for the 2014 NCAA Division III National Championships later this month at Ohio Wesleyan University. Right now, Ciaravino's is in 30th-place on the NCAA DIII performance list.
Ciaravino crossed the finish line first in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 15.13 seconds, which was worth 825 points. She then placed second in the high jump with a 1.55 meter/5'1" clearance to score 678 points. Ciaravino then collected 471 points with a 9.10 meter/29'10-1/4" throw in the shot put. She ended the first day of the heptathlon with a runner-up time of 26.71 seconds in the 200-meter dash, which gave her 736 points.
Ciaravino scored 595 points with a 5.13 meter/16'10" leap in the long jump. She threw the javelin 22.14 meters/72'8" for 329 points. Ciaravino wrapped-up competition with a time of 2:35.24 in the 800-meter run for 629 points.
