Olivet College’s Ciaravino competes in pentathlon at North Central
Olivet College junior Cassie Ciaravino (Lapeer/East) competed tonight in the pentathlon at the North Central (Ill.) College Final Qualifier. She attended the meet in hopes of qualifying for the 2014 NCAA Division III Indoor Track & Field National Championships.
NAPERVILLE, Ill. – Olivet College junior Cassie Ciaravino (Lapeer/East) competed tonight in the pentathlon at the North Central (Ill.) College Final Qualifier. She attended the meet in hopes of qualifying for the 2014 NCAA Division III Indoor Track & Field National Championships.
Ciaravino scored an indoor school-record 3,284 total points in the five events, which puts her 19th on the NCAA performance list. In the first event, the 60-meter hurdles, she crossed the finish line in 9.34 seconds (840 points). Ciaravino followed with an indoor school-record mark of 1.58 meters/5 feet, 2-1/4 inches (712 points). She then threw the shot put 9.04 meters/29 feet, 8 inches (467 points).
In the fourth event, the long jump, Ciaravino had the best mark at 5.29 meters/17 feet, 4-1/4 inches (559 points). She completed the pentathlon with a time of 2:35.51 (775 points) in the 800-meter run.
