OLIVET, Mich. -- Olivet College senior Rachael Hager has earned 2018 All-Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Second Team honors for women's tennis. She is a repeat selection to the second-team after also earning the honor in 2016.
Playing 13 of her 14 singles matches at the No. 1 slot, Hager won four matches, including three against MIAA opponents. All three league victories were consecutive wins against Madison Hatkevich from Trine (Ind.) University, Brooke Butterfield from Alma College and Amber Laginess from Adrian College. One of Hager's losses was a tough three-set defeat to Olivia Conover from Albion College.
In doubles, Hager split time at the No. 1 and No. 2 position, and played with four different partners. In MIAA play, she teamed with Rae Claramunt for victories over the No. 1 teams from Alma and Adrian. Hager also won four non-conference doubles matches.
"Rachael did a fantastic job playing at a high level against top competition all year," said head coach Andrew DeBruyn. "She set the bar high for our team. As a graduating senior, this is a tremendous achievement for Rachael."
