Women’s tennis team finishes spring trip with 5-2 win over Roosevelt
The Olivet College women’s tennis team concluded its spring break trip with a 5-2 win over Roosevelt (Ill.) University this afternoon at Carolina Place in Hilton Head, South Carolina.
HILTON HEAD, S.C. – The Olivet College women's tennis team concluded its spring break trip with a 5-2 win over Roosevelt (Ill.) University this afternoon at Carolina Place in Hilton Head, South Carolina.
The Comets swept doubles play to go up 3-0 and then split the first four singles flights to win the match. The last two singles flights were called due to darkness.
The No. 1 doubles tandem of sophomore Maddy Drikakis and freshman Rachael Hager won 8-5. The No. 2 team of sophomores Haley Powers and BreAnne Rudlaff needed an extra game to win 9-7. Freshman Rae Claramunt and junior Isabel Snyder earned an 8-3 win.
In singles play, Hager breezed to a straight set win and did not lose any games, 6-0, 6-0, at the No. 1 slot. Rudlaff had the match-clinching victory at No. 4 singles, winning in straight sets, 7-5, 6-2.
The Comets will now start their Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association schedule next Wednesday, March 16, with a 4 p.m. match at Kalamazoo College.
