Women’s tennis: Team and players earn ITA academic honors
The Olivet College women’s tennis team has earned All-Academic Team designation from the ITA. In addition, five members of the team have earned ITA Scholar-Athlete honors.
SKILLMAN, N.J. – The Olivet College women's tennis team has earned All-Academic Team designation from the International Tennis Association (ITA). The Comets were led by second-year head coach Andrew DeBruyn in 2014-15. Olivet has received this designation for the seventh time in school history, including the sixth time in the last seven years.
In addition, five members of the team have earned ITA Scholar-Athlete honors. To earn this honor, the student-athlete must be a varsity letterwinner and have a 3.50 or higher GPA for the 2014-15 academic year. Receiving this honor are Lydia Drikakis, Maddy Drikakis, Lucy McNally, Haley Powers and BreAnne Rudlaff. McNally is a repeat selection.
The ITA All-Academic Team award is open to any member program that has a cumulative team grade point average (GPA) of 3.20 or above. All eligible student-athletes whose names appear on the NCAA eligibility form and have competed in one or more varsity matches must average into the GPA for the current academic year.
In order to earn ITA Scholar-Athlete status, a player must meet the following criteria: 1.) be a varsity letterwinner, 2.) have a grade point average of at least 3.50 for the current academic year, and 3.) been enrolled at his/her present school for at least 2 semesters (including freshman thorough senior year).
