Women’s tennis: Olivet loses to Carroll, 6-3, in first Spring Break match
The Olivet College women’s tennis team fell to Carroll (Wis.) University in its first Spring Break match today at the Beach & Tennis Resort in Hilton Head, South Carolina.
HILTON HEAD, S.C. – The Olivet College women's tennis team fell to Carroll (Wis.) University, 6-3, in its first Spring Break match today at the Beach & Tennis Resort in Hilton Head, South Carolina.
The Pioneers won the first two doubles flights by identical 8-3 scores. The Comets put their first team point on the scoreboard when the No. 3 doubles duo of junior Lucy McNally and sophomore Isabel Snyder claimed an 8-6 pro-set victory.
Carroll swept the first three singles flights in straight sets. Freshman BreAnne Rudlaff picked-up a win for Olivet at No. 4 singles. She won the first set 6-2 before losing the second set 6-2 to force a match-tiebreaker, which she cruised to a 10-2 win.
The Pioneers earned another straight set win at No. 5 singles. Senior Devan Thomas won 6-3 and 6-3 at No. 6 singles for the Comets.
Olivet is back on the courts early tomorrow morning against Baldwin Wallace (Ohio) University at 8 a.m. The match will be played at the Hilton Head Island Middle School.
