Swimming: Olivet in sixth at MIAA Championship

HOLLAND, Mich. – The University of Olivet men's and women's swimming teams sit in sixth-place after day three of the 2024 Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Championship, hosted by Hope College and at the Holland Aquatic Center.
FOR THE WOMEN
- Senior Jennifer Mann took second in the 400-yard individual medley with a season-best time of 4:34.01.
- Junior Mya Kinnunen finished 12th in the 100-yard backstroke (1:06.34). In the preliminaries, she recorded a personal-best time of 1:06.18.
- Also, in the 400-yard individual medley, freshman Sophia Spahr was 13th (5:15.80).
- Sophomore Kelsee Lawson scored 15th-place points in the 100-yard butterfly (1:07.83). She had a season-best time of 1:06.71 in her preliminary race.
- Sophomore Bridgette Shroll placed 16th in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:13.64). She raced to a season-best time of 1:12.47 in the preliminaries.
- The 200-yard medley team of Kinnunen, Shroll, Mann and Spahr finished sixth among A relays with a time of 1:59.60.
FOR THE MEN
- Junior Landon Morgan finished 10th in the 100-yard breaststroke with a personal-best time of 59.42 seconds, which ranks ninth all-time at Olivet. He also had a personal-best time of 53.95 seconds in the prelims of the 100-yard butterfly.
- In the 100-yard backstroke, senior Dylan Lyons was 11th with a season-best time of 54.74 seconds.
- Also, in the 100-yard backstroke, junior Seth Kading placed 13th with a season-best time of 55.93 seconds.
- The 200-yard medley relay team of Lyons, Morgan, junior Treyton Gabrielson and Kading finished fifth among the A relays with a time of 1:37.26.
- Achieving personal bests in the preliminaries were:
- Gabrielson in the 100-yard butterfly (54.65)
- Freshman Logan Weicht in the 100-yard butterfly (57.96)
- Sophomore Jack Pendell in the 100-yard butterfly (1:14.08)
- Sophomore Matthew Brown in the 200-yard freestyle (1:53.63)
UP NEXT
- The fourth and final day of the MIAA Championship is tomorrow. The events being contested are the 1,650-yard freestyle, 200-yard backstroke, 100-yard freestyle, 200-yard breaststroke, 200-yard butterfly and 400-yard freestyle relay. Preliminaries are in the morning at 10 a.m., followed by finals in the evening at 5 p.m.
