Swimming & diving teams compete at the 2019 Carthage A3 Classic
The Olivet College men’s and women’s swimming & diving teams competed in the three-day Carthage Classic, held inside the Koenitzer Aquatic Center in Kenosha, Wisconsin. Highlighting the meet was the first-place performance by the men's 200-yard medley relay.

KENOSHA, Wis. – The Olivet College men's and women's swimming & diving teams competed in the three-day Carthage Classic, held inside the Koenitzer Aquatic Center in Kenosha, Wisconsin.
- Men – third-place with 1,622 points
- Women – eighth-place with 491 points
- Every swimmer had at least one season-best performance and several posted personal-best performances.
- Thursday night
- The 800-yard freestyle relay team of sophomore Cade Erickson, senior Zach Meharg, freshman Jacob Ritter and senior Eric Wood finished third among the "A" relays with a time of 7:18.30.
- Friday afternoon/night
- The 400-yard medley relay quartet of Meharg, freshman Takato Timmerman, Ritter and Eric Wood placed second with a time of 3:35.27.
- Wood had the second-fastest time in the 100-yard freestyle at 47.31 seconds, just .14 seconds behind the winner, and was seventh in the 500-yard freestyle (4:51.52).
- Timmerman posted the second-quickest time in the 100-yard individual medley (54.89). He also completed the 200-yard breaststroke in third-place at 2:11.84, the eighth-fastest time in school history for the event.
- Meharg was ninth in the 200-yard individual medley (2:03.02). He also placed first in the "B" final of the 100-yard butterfly for an 11th-place finish at 55.56 seconds.
- Freshman Parker Brown touched the wall ninth in the 200-yard backstroke at 2:12.74.
- Erickson finished eighth in the 500-yard freestyle (4:54.55) and 10th in the 100-yard freestyle (49.93).
- Ritter was sixth in the 100-yard butterfly at 53.55 seconds, and won the "B" final in the 200-yard individual medley (2:02.42) to finish in 11th-place.
- Saturday afternoon/night
- The 200-yard medley relay team of Meharg, Timmerman, Ritter and Erickson swam to a first-place time of 1:39.45.
- The 400-yard freestyle relay quartet of Ritter, Moore, Timmerman and Wood was second-fastest at 3:15.28.
- Timmerman finished second in the 100-yard breaststroke at 58.81 seconds, the fourth-fastest time in school history for the event. He also placed 10th in the 50-yard freestyle (22.33).
- Wood was third in the 200-yard freestyle (1:45.09) and ninth in the 50-yard freestyle (21.86).
- Ritter had the ninth-fastest time in the 200-yard butterfly at 2:08.34.
- Meharg placed eighth in the 400-yard individual medley (4:28.88) and 10th in the 200-yard butterfly (2:10.63).
- Freshman Carter Moore clocked-in at 57.80 seconds to finish ninth in the 100-yard backstroke.
- Thursday night
- Senior Amelia Tomalka completed the 1,650-yard freestyle in a personal-best time of 20:16.84. Her 1,000 split was also a lifetime-best, and the 500 split was a season-best by more than six seconds.
- Friday afternoon/night
- Sophomore Kayla Eichaker placed ninth in the 100-yard freestyle (56.10). She also finished 10th in the 100-yard butterfly (1:02.67).
- Saturday afternoon/night
- Eichaker won the "B" final in the 200-yard butterfly with a time of 2:24.68.
- Olivet is idle until Saturday, Jan. 18, when it hosts Bethel (Ind.) University at 1 p.m.
