Swimming & diving teams split MIAA dual meets at Alma
The Olivet College men’s and women’s swimming & diving teams split Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association dual meets against Alma College this afternoon at the McClure Natatorium in Alma. The Comet men defeated the Scots, 116-77; and the Comet women lost 151-63.

ALMA, Mich. – The Olivet College men's and women's swimming & diving teams split Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association dual meets against Alma College this afternoon at the McClure Natatorium in Alma. The Comet men defeated the Scots, 116-77; and the Comet women lost 151-63.
- Men – Olivet def. Alma, 116-77
- Women – Alma def. Olivet, 151-63
- Freshman Brandon Burks led a pair of 1-2 Olivet finishes. He was first in the 50-yard freestyle at 24.40 seconds, followed by junior Tom Decker in second at 24.49 seconds. Burks finished first in the 100-yard backstroke at 1:01.46, followed by senior Bryan Plesner in second at 1:02.28.
- Sophomore Patrick Gault won the 1,000-yard freestyle with a time of 12:31.62.
- Junior Eric Wood captured the 100-yard freestyle in 50.64 seconds and 200-yard freestyle in 1:46.61.
- Freshman Zachary Knott touched the wall first in the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:01.37.
- The 400-yard freestyle relay team of junior Zach Meharg, sophomore Kolton Epplett, Knott and Wood claimed a first-place time of 3:33.86.
- Junior Dalton Miner was first on both diving boards, tallying 278.70 points on the one-meter and 243.00 points on the three-meter. The total on the one-meter ranks second all-time at Olivet for a six-dive program, and is also an NCAA regional qualifying cut. The total on the three-meter was a personal-best.
- Junior Abbie Slater swept the diving competition, scoring 187.15 points on the one-meter and 191.60 points on the three-meter.
- Senior Sabrina Butler came from behind to finish first in 100-yard freestyle at 59.61 seconds, and had the second-fastest time in 50-yard freestyle at 27.47 seconds.
- Freshman Kayla Eichaker won the 100-yard butterfly in 1:02.69 and took second in the 200-yard individual medley with a time of 2:21.82.
- The 400-yard freestyle quartet of senior Delaney Graham, sophomore Ally Smith, sophomore Amelia Tomalka and Butler was second with a time of 4:05.73.
- Olivet hosts Tiffin (Ohio) University and Hillsdale College for a non-conference double dual meet next Friday, starting at 5 p.m. Hillsdale has only a women's program, so the Comet men will compete against only the Dragons.
