Montes de Oca misses finals cut in 200 butterfly
Olivet College freshman Ana Paula Montes de Oca had the second-fastest time in school history in the 200-yard butterfly but missed the cut to compete in the evening finals at the 2018 NCAA Division IIII Swimming & Diving Championships.
INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Olivet College freshman Ana Paula Montes de Oca had the second-fastest time in school history in the 200-yard butterfly but missed the cut to compete in the evening finals at the 2018 NCAA Division IIII Swimming & Diving Championships. She completed her preliminary race in 2:08.30, which was slower than her school-record time of 2:06.36.
Montes de Oca will swim in the 1,650-yard freestyle tomorrow morning. She earned the trip to nationals by swimming a provisional qualifying time of 17:17.24 in the 1,650 free at the MIAA Championships.
Montes de Oca is the fourth women's swimmer in school history to compete at the national championships. The other three were Jill Lingbeek in 2005 and 2006, Amy Johnson in 2009 and Caitlin Lohr in 2011.
