Swimming & diving teams drop dual meets to Albion and Wooster
The Olivet College men's and women's swimming & diving teams hosted Albion College and College of Wooster (Ohio) for a double dual meet today at the Upton Center Pool in Olivet. Ironically, the men’s team lost to both schools by the same 230-42, and the women’s team did the same losing 217-54 to both teams.
OLIVET, Mich. – The Olivet College men's and women's swimming & diving teams hosted Albion College and College of Wooster (Ohio) for a double dual meet today at the Upton Center Pool in Olivet. Ironically, the men's team lost to both schools by the same 230-42, and the women's team did the same losing 217-54 to both teams.
For the men, senior Taylor Howard finished third in the 50-yard breaststroke (29.76) and fourth in the 200-yard individual medley (2:07.09). Junior Zak Gray was fourth in the 100-yard breaststroke with a season-best time of 1:07.08.
Freshman Bryan Plesner also posted a season-best time of 1:00.79 in the 100-yard butterfly. He also placed fourth in the 1,650-yard freestyle. Junior Bryce Prudden finished third on both diving boards, scoring 232.90 points on the one-meter and 206.50 points on the three-meter.
For the women, freshman Taylor Tibbetts touched the wall first in the 100-yard butterfly. She finished in a season-best time of 1:01.80. Swimming for the final time in the home pool, senior Megan Dossey placed second in the 500-yard freestyle (5:34.82). Sophomore Emma Cole won the 1,650-yard freestyle in a season-best time of 18:41.26.
Both Comet relays recorded season-best times. The 400-yard medley relay quartet of freshman Delaney Graham, sophomore Nicole Zerfas, Tibbetts and freshman Sabrina Butler clocked-in at 4:29.65. Butler, Dossey, Graham and Tibbetts swam the 200-yard freestyle relay in 1:46.40.
Olivet returns to the pool next Friday, Feb. 5, for a dual meet at Albion. The meet gets started at 6 p.m.
