Women’s soccer team comes up short at Hope, 4-1
Olivet College was defeated by Hope College, 4-1, in a Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association women’s soccer match this afternoon at Van Andel Soccer Stadium in Holland.

HOLLAND, Mich. – Olivet College was defeated by Hope College, 4-1, in a Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association women's soccer match this afternoon at Van Andel Soccer Stadium in Holland.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Flying Dutch led 3-0 at halftime. The last two goals were scored in a five-minute span in the 31st and 36th minute.
- Hope extended its lead to 4-0 with a goal in the 11th minute of the second half.
- The Comets scored their goal with 57 seconds remaining in the game. Sophomore Ann Fetzer passed the ball from the middle of the field to junior Isabelle Leon blasted a shot from around 20 yards out off the cross bar and past the goal line for her team-leading 14th goal of the season.
FOR THE COMETS
- The Comets were held to six total shots, all by Leon.
- Freshman Brooklyn Burel faced 27 shots in goal and made 10 saves.
FOR THE FLYING DUTCH
- Erin Brophy had two goals.
- Natalie Curry and Elizabeth Perkins each scored a goal.
- Perkins also had an assist to go along with a team-best six shots.
- Mary Clare Theis collected two saves.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
- With her goal, Leon moved into ninth all-time for a single-season with 14. Next up is Doris Sullivan (1999) and Stacey Stickney (2004), who both scored 15. Her 33 points is eighth for a season.
- Leon is fifth all-time in career goals (34) and points (82).
