Romanowski’s seven points helps women’s soccer team blank Saint Mary’s, 5-0
Freshman Ashley Romanowski scored seven points, three goals and one assist, to help the Olivet College women’s soccer team blank Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) foe Saint Mary’s (Ind.) College, 5-0, today at the Cutler Athletic Complex in Olivet.

OLIVET, Mich. – Freshman Ashley Romanowski scored seven points, three goals and one assist, to help the Olivet College women's soccer team blank Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) foe Saint Mary's (Ind.) College, 5-0, today at the Cutler Athletic Complex in Olivet.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Comets scored the only goal they would need in the fourth minute. Romanowski sent a pass from the left side of the field to the right side, where junior Rachael Durocher fired in a shot into the goal at the far post.
- Romanowski scored her first goal of the game in the 38th minute.
- Olivet capped its first-half scoring with 1:59 left before the break. In a scrum in front of the net, freshman Maddy Lewitt did a quick touch pass to Romanowski who then tapped the ball into the net just a step away the goal.
- The Comets' two goals in the second half came in a span of just over three minutes.
- Romanowski completed her hat trick on an unassisted goal in the 61st minute.
- In the 65th minute, junior Isabelle Leon passed the ball out of the box to the feet of junior Miranda Quick who blasted a shot off the cross bar and down into the goal from 19 yards out.
FOR THE COMETS
- Olivet peppered the goal with 36 total shots.
- Leon led the way with nine shots, while Romanowski had eight.
- Sophomore Emma Essen and junior Emily Reinecke each had four.
- Freshman keeper Brooklyn Burel along with the Comets' back line were never threatened in the game. The only two shots for the Belles went wide of the net.
FOR THE BELLES
- Callie Doyle and Emily Rompola each had a shot.
- Thallia Robles made 11 saves in goal.

- The Comets are now off until next Saturday, Oct. 15, when they host Alma College at noon.
