Durocher’s overtime goal lifts women’s soccer team past Calvin, 3-2
Junior Rachael Durocher scored with 3:03 left in the first overtime to lift the Olivet College women’s soccer team past defending MIAA champion Calvin College, 3-2, today at the Cutler Athletic Complex in Olivet.

OLIVET, Mich. – Junior Rachael Durocher scored with 3:03 left in the first overtime to lift the Olivet College women's soccer team past defending Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) champion Calvin College, 3-2, today at the Cutler Athletic Complex in Olivet.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Knights took a 1-0 lead on a goal around the mid-point of the first half.
- The Comets tied the game at 1-1 in the 32nd minute, as Durocher sent a pass across the field, where junior Isabelle Leon scored on a shot to the far post from inside the six-yard box.
- There was no more scoring until the 13th minute of the second half when a Calvin player dribbled the ball through Olivet's back line and deposited a shot into the goal.
- Olivet evened the score in the 74th minute. Freshman Ashley Romanowski ripped a shot which saw the ball clang off the cross bar and right to Leon's feet inside the box. Leon then finished with a hard shot past the keeper for her 11th goal of the season.
- Both teams had chances to score a goal late in regulation but failed to capitalize on any of them.
- In the overtime period, each team had a shot before Durocher's game-winning goal.
FOR THE COMETS
- Olivet recorded 13 shots, including seven on-goal.
- Romanowski led the way with four shots.
- Freshman Brooklyn Burel played the entire game in goal and collected five saves, while being peppered with 25 shots.
FOR THE KNIGHTS
- Anica Pausma and Brianna Russell had one goal apiece.
- Whitney Koets topped the Knights with five shots, while Emily Van Vliet had four, and six others each had two.
- Brianna Koehn made three saves in goal.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
- Durocher's goal was the first of her career at Olivet.
- The win snapped a 32-game losing streak to Calvin. The Comets last beat Oct. 22, 1999. In addition, it was only the third win in 50 all-time games against the Knights.

- The Comets wrap-up the first half of their MIAA schedule Saturday when they make the trip to play Kalamazoo College at noon.
