GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The Olivet College women's soccer team closed out the 2015 season with a 2-0 loss to Calvin College in the semifinals of the 2015 Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Tournament.
In the first half, the Comets came out ready. They found feet and played with high pressure up top to put the Knights on their heels. Olivet had opportunities in the first half from sophomores Isabelle Leon and Emily Reinecke. Calvin also had their chances throughout the half, but neither team was able to score. Going into halftime, the Comets were able to hold the Knights off to a 0-0 score.
In the second half, senior centerbacks Jeanette Fisher and Megan Peplinski kept the defense a well-oiled unit. In the 52nd minute, the Knights got a rebound in the box and put it away to make score 1-0. With the momentum shift, Olivet was trying to find the equalizer. The Comets were unsuccessful though when in the 84th minute, Calvin put its final goal on the scoreboard.
Olivet ends the season with an 11-6-3 overall record. The 11 wins are the most in a season for the Comets since 2010 when they had 12.
